Wards of ministers likely to enter political arena in Nellore

Nellore: The wards of ministers in city are likely to contest in the forthcoming polls as political heirs to their fathers.  Rajagopala Reddy, son of Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, and Sindhu, daughter of P Narayana, are now actively involving in government programmes along with their fathers indicating their interest to enter politics.

Rajagopala Reddy, a post graduate in Mechatronics from Stanford University, UK, had started assisting Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy for the past some time supporting the political activities of his father as political coordinator for Sarvepalli Assembly constituency. As Somireddy is busy with activities as a Minister, Rajagopal has been looking after all programmes in the constituency.

Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy won from the constituency during 1994 and 1999 elections and he had faced defeat during elections in 2004, 2009 and 2014. For last three elections, he has been facing difficult situation in the constituency and now he had deputed his son for managing issues and to prepare ground for the upcoming polls.

Adala Prabhakar Reddy won 2004, 2009 elections and Kakani Govardhan Reddy won from the same constituency during 2014 elections. Since YSR Congress has been a strong force in the district with 6 MLA seats (Legislator of Gudur segment shifted loyalties from YSR Congress to TDP recently) and the MP seat is also in their account, there is demand for focusing on the constituency. But, analysts say there are chances that Rajagopal may be in the field if the party directs since Chandramohan Reddy is an MLC and also working as Cabinet minister.

“I am only a coordinator of the constituency and have been supporting my father for day to day activities. I am now only 34 and there is a lot of time for participating in direct polls. If party directs in future, will certainly do whatever instructed,” said Rajagopal Reddy, talking to the Hans India.

Further, Sindhu, daughter of Minister Narayana, who is in-charge of all institutions of Narayana Group, has also been involving in local programmes along with her father. Rumours are doing rounds on her political entry, however, followers of Narayana deny such plans.

“She is in-charge of all institutions of Narayana Group and she is involving only in education related activities. She is totally not interested in politics. There may be speculations on her entry into politics. But they are not correct,” said an aide of the Minister.

She had attended programmes in the city in connection with Minister Narayana’s visits to municipal schools Anna canteens etc recently. In fact, Narayana was inducted into the cabinet as MLC and he has also not finalised his place of contest for the upcoming elections.
