1,000 municipal teachers to get promotions

Guntur: The municipal teachers are likely to get promotions and transfers very soon. Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has agreed to the plea made by the municipal teachers in Amaravati. Over 1,000 teachers will get promotions and the government will consider the request of the teachers who applied for transfers as per GO No.506 and, 507. 

Minister Narayana assured that he will examine the proposal to hike salary of Vidya Volunteers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. For the last 17 years, there have been no transfers for municipal teachers. Following request of the teachers union, the government agreed for transfers and promotions.

Following a case filed in the court by a Telugu Pandit on the seniority issue, the promotions were pending with the government. Now municipal administration department will file counter in the court and give promotions.

According to sources in the Municipal Administration department, Over 900 Grade-! Pandits, 70 school assistants and 30 HMs posts are vacant in various municipalities and corporations in the State. The government will fill these posts and give promotions to the eligible. Grade-1 pandits will get promotion as Grade-2 pandits and school assistants will become HMs.

All municipalities in the district will be considered as one unit for teachers working in the municipalities. All the teachers working in the municipal corporations in one district will be considered as one unit. Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada Municipal Corporations will be considered as a unit. 

Similarly, Tirupati and Chittoor Municipal Corporations will be considered as a unit. After taking objections on the seniority list, the government will give promotions.

The municipal teachers have already applied for transfers as per GO No.506. As per this GO 507, the government will consider the spouse and mutual transfers. Similarly, as per GO 507, request transfers will be considered.

The Director of Municipal Administration K Kanna Babu will announce the schedule for promotions and transfers. At present, in-charge HMs are running the schools where HM posts are vacant.
