Central Crime Station police seize gutkha stocks worth 7.50 lakh

Nellore: Central Crime Station (CCS) Police held two gutkha traders and seized 67,190 packets of banned gutkha worth Rs.7.50 lakh from them. The accused are identified as G Venugopal and P Khaja. CCS Circle Inspector Sk Bobbyjan Saida disclosed the details at his chamber in the city on Monday.

He said that Venugopal hailing from Talamanchi Gunta in Kodavalur mandal and P Khaja from Janardhanreddy Colony in the city were doing gutkha trade in the district. The accused have been getting the products from other parts of the country and were selling the same in the city.

Keeping vigil on movements of the accused, CCS police along with Nawabpeta police held the accused at Venkateswarapuram near the National Highway-16. 

Police have seized pouches of different companies of gutkha products from the accused, he said. CCS Circle Insepctor O Durga Prasad, Sub-Inspector Sk Sharif and others were present.
