Welfare schemes rooted in Marx ideology, say Left leaders in Eluru

Eluru: The system aspired by Karl Marx has helped governments worldwide to implement welfare scheme, opined CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna and CPM state secretary P Madhu.

They participated in a state-level seminar organised by handicraft workers to commemorate Karl Marx on his 200th birth anniversary here on Monday. The Left leaders watched a flexi exhibition on Marx’s life and contribution to the world. Marx birth celebration committee vice-president A Nageswara Rao and secretary L Venkateswara Rao explained various aspects relating to Marx through the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, Madhu appreciated the committee for planning year-long birth anniversary celebrations. He informed that many governments all over the world had been implementing welfare schemes to provide basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, education and medicare as a result of agitations conducted basing on the ideology of Marx.

In his speech, Ramakrishna called upon the youth to strive for elimination of partiality existed in many societies in different forms anywhere in the world. They should march ahead with progressive thinking. The influence of Marx had been helping the communists to emerge a force to reckon with.

The festival committee secretary, Venkateswara Rao announced that they would organise seminars on Marx in schools and colleges during August. They would conduct essay-writing, elocution and quiz competitions for students on Karl Marx’s life. In October, they would launch a booklet on Marx philosophy and its relevance. The committee would also conduct blood donation camps, he added.
