Pithapuram:  A monkey went on a biting spree in AP Mallavaram in Gollaprolu mandal on Tuesday. At least 13 persons were injured on their limbs on account of the simian going astray in the village.

The people are afraid of standing outside their homes for fear of the money attacking them. Most of the victims include those who sit in front of their homes and at the village square.

In a five-hour biting spree, the monkey moved free in the village and spared none.

At last, the police had to intervene to restrain the simian, which took an aggressive posture threatening the police, who at last succeeded in capturing it. The monkey was tied to a tree.

The injured have been admitted to government hospital at Kakinada. Some others were rushed to the government primary helath center at Chebrolu.

The villagers recall the incident and say that the monkey looked never afraid inspite of the villagers were armed with sticks.

On account of pulling down trees in the neighbouring K-SEZ the monkeys are storming the villages.  The police said that the monkey would be released in the forest area.
