Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission conducts inquiry at GST office

Vizianagaram: The Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission (APWC) has conducted an inquiry at the GST office and enquired the women employees about their problems. N Rajakumari, Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission, along with member K Srivani, paid a visit to the office on Tuesday. 

She conducted an in-camera interaction with women officers K Uma Nageshwari and P Rani Ratna Kumari, who lodged a complaint with APWC, and said that they were being deployed in the night shifts and in duties pertaining to checking of vehicles which were against the norms and they appealed to the commission to protect their rights.

They made it clear that there was no sexual harassment, but the timings of duty and nature of work were very much inconvenient for them. Later, Rajakumari said that APWC would take measures to protect the women and children in the state. She said that the commission would serve notices on the Joint Commissioner.
