Indian Meteorological Department predicts heavy rains in next 48 hours

Visakhapatnam: Heavy rains are likely to occur in north coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 48-hours. With the strong monsoon conditions and the influence of the low-pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in the north coastal districts in the next two days.

Strong surface winds from the westerly directions speed reaching 45 to 50 km per hour likely along off the north coastal Andhra region also predicted by the IMD scientists. The state of the sea would be rough to very rough during the same period. With this, the IMD issued warning to the fishermen to be very cautious while venturing into the sea.

Meanwhile, the government alerted all the district administration of the four north coastal districts to be ready to face any eventuality. The officials of the  department of fisheries have been directed to communicate the IMD alerts and warning to the fishermen across the coastal belt.

The government also directed all the tahsildars, revenue divisional officers (RDO)s and district heads of the all line departments to stay at their respective headquarters and to monitor the situation and take necessary precautions during the next two-days.
