Go for more research programmes in applied biology: AKNU VC to students

Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu underlined the need for more research programmes in applied biology which is the need of the hour and also benefits people a lot.

Inaugurating a workshop held on ‘Recent Trends in Applied Biology’ held on the campus here on Thursday, Prof Mutyala Naidu said, “We are now enjoying the fruits of research conducted by many scientists in the past.

Noble laurate C V Raman conducted many research programmes in applied biology successfully and brought recognition to the country in the world.’’ The students should emulate the great scientists and inculcate the habit of taking up research programmes in applied biology which contribute to the development of the country. 

He appealed to the students to know details of the research programmes before they take up any project.  The university is giving importance for research programmes, he added. Prof of Genetics Peddayya briefed about genetic engineering and its application to the society. 

Life and Health Sciences department conducted the workshop.  ICMR scientist Dr BV Babu, Prof T Hymavathi, convenor Dr P Vijay Nirmala, Dr DSRS Prakash and others were present. Later, the Vice-Chancellor released a souvenir published with 105 research papers on applied biology.
