Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi waters to Chittoor by October
Chittoor: The stage has been set to supply the waters from Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) to the district through Kuppam Branch canal. According to tribal and social welfare minister Nakka Ananda Babu, the construction works relating to Balaji Reservoir, Mallemadugu , and Venugopalsagar would be completed by March 2019.
The minister unfurled the Tricolour on the occasion 72nd Independence Day celebrations held at District Police Parade Grounds here on Wednesday. Speaking after hoisting the national flag, the minister enlisted the achievements of TDP government under the able leadership of Chief Minster N Chandrababu Naidu and said the drinking water to Kuppam, Palamaner, Punganur and Kuppam mandals would be ensured through Kuppam Branch of HNSS canal with an estimated outlay of Rs 480 crore by October.
In addition to it, the works relating to Chittoor Drinking Water Supply Project costing Rs 280 crore pertaining to AMRUT scheme would also be commenced within no time facilitating drinking water to Chittoor city. Stating drought conditions prevailed in the district due to prolonged dry spell, he said 58 mandals in the district were facing drought like situation.
He said instructions were given to agriculture department for operating rain guns and organic spray in several mandals to check withering of groundnut crop in 15,000 hectares. Under farmers debt relief scheme, Rs 1,019 crore were released and credited to farmers accounts, he said and added the banks have distributed so far Rs 3,434 crore towards farmers crop loan in the district.
Collector issues ration card for freedom fighters kins
At last, after their relentless effort of two decades for white ration card, Ravamani and Renuka, the daughters of deceased freedom fighter of Chittoor city, have got relief here on Wednesday. The frustrated sisters have decided to meet minister N Ananda Babu at Chittoor Police Parade grounds on Wednesday during Independence Day celebrations and submit their grievance.
Collector P S Pradyumna having come to understand their attempt sharply reacted and instructed Joint Collector P S Giiisha to take immediate steps for issuing ration card for two sisters. The Joint Collector immediately instructed district civil supply officer to issue ration card within two days. Both Ravamani and Renuka have expressed their happiness for resolving their long-pending demand.
