Missing fishermen of Kakinada traced

Kakinada: Seven fishermen of Kakinada, who went missing since August 11, were traced at Manchineella Peta in Vajrakotturu mandal of Srikakulam distric­t on Thursday.

Seven fishermen of Dummlapeta area in Kakinada ventured into the sea for fishing on August 7 on a fibre boat and they were supposed to return on August 11, but they did not return till date. Fearing danger to their lives, a complaint was lodged with fisheries department on Thursday by boat owner Mosa Peturu.

According to joint director of fisheries P Jaya Rao, Indian Coast Guard was alerted and search operations were taken up by two  Coast Guard ships and Navy chopper.

But on Thursday evening, a message was received from Srikakulam stating that the seven fishermen were safe. Measures are being taken up to bring them to Kakinada, Jaya Rao said.
