Recalling Atal’s date with Guntur
Guntur: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had good association with Guntur city. He had visited Guntur city several times and conducted election campaign in favour of BJP candidates.
When Vajpayee was Jan Sangh President, advocate Jupudi Yagna Narayana hailed from Guntur city worked as Jana Sangh national vice-president. Vajpayee had good association with Yagna Narayana family members. When he came to Guntur city, he had visited Jupudi Yagna Narayana’s residence.
When Jupudi Yagnanarayana had contested as an MLA, Vajapayee had addressed a public meeting in favour of him. Jupudi Yagnan Narayana's son Jupudi Rangaraju worked as BJP Yuva Morcha state vice-president. He met Vajpayee several times. His mother Jupudi Hymavathi participated in the election campaign along with Vajpayee.
In 1968 Vajpayee had paid a visit to Guntur city. The then Guntur Municipal Chairman Chebrolu Hanumaniah was in Congress party, he had accorded a rousing reception to Vajpayee at Gandhi Park in Guntur city. Vajpayee inaugurated Veerasavakar Road leading to theh BR Stadium from Jinnah Tower in Guntur. Chebrolu Hanumaniah had felicitated Vajpayee in Guntur city.
In 1983 Vajyapee had visited Guntur city and conducted election campaign in favour of the then BJP Guntur-1 BJP candidate Vanama Purnachandra Rao and addressed public meetings in Guntur city. Reminding his association with Vajaypayee, BJP state leader Vanama Purnachanndra Rao said because of Vajpayee, he joined BJP.
He reminded that Vajapayee had accorded top priority for the development of National Highways. He reminded that the latter had introduced Kisan Credit Card. He further stated that his dream was to interlink all the rivers to solve drought in the country and added that making his dream realty is a real tribute to him. He said his death is a great loss to the country.
