Smart parking introduced in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) introduced smart parking system in the city on Thursday. First of its kind in the city, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation launched the smart parking at Kaleswara Rao Market.  Mayor Koneru Sridhar, Municipal Commissioner J Nivas and local corporator Shaik Asif jointly inaugurated the smart parking in a programme here.  

The e-parking system is useful to vehicle users. The vehicle owners should download ‘Park in slot App’ from Google play store. The owners can search the available parking slots nearer to their stoppage in the city with maps. The owners can select the parking place through their mobile phone.

The owners should pay Rs 30 for four-wheelers, Rs 15 for auto-rickshaws and Rs 10 for two-wheelers for using parking slots for the first three hours. The amount can be paid through debit card, credit card and online payment system.

Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that the corporation used to get lesser amount compared to actual parking fee in the past. Now the smart parking system provided opportunity to avoid lapses, he said. The system was introduced with the cooperation of Smart Parking India Private Limited, he said.

Municipal Commissioner J Nivas said that the smart parking system was introduced for the convenience of the vehicle users in the city. He said that the computer bill would be given to vehicle users without any lapses. The Commissioner also said that the smart parking system would be introduced in the 20 important centres in the city.
