Will lease out more govt hospitals to private sector

Chittoor: Industries Minister Amaranatha Reddy said the government would lease out more Government General Hospitals (GGHs) in the state to private sector under the clinical attachment.

After leasing out GGH here to Apollo Hospitals, more poor patients are availing the services of the district headquarters hospital, he stated after inaugurating dialysis unit and maternal Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at GGH here on Thursday.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion, the Minister said the TD government had introduced several schemes on a pilot basis to ensure medical care for poor at free of cost.

He informed the participants of the meeting that the newly set up dialysis unit would be beneficial to kidney patients. The government had allocated more funds in the budget for health sector, he mentioned, adding that many poor patients were given assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). 

While lauding the efforts of doctors in providing medical services to poor and needy, he called upon the Apollo management to set up trauma care unit at GGH here.

He expressed happiness over increase of outpatients to the GGH from 600 to 1,500 per day after the Apollo had taken over the GGH under the clinical attachment.

Chittoor MP N Sivaprasad, MLA D A Satyaprabha, ZP Chairperson Girvani, MLC B N Rajasimhulu, Mayor K Hemalatha, Apollo Hospitals Joint Managing Director Dr Sangeetha Reddy, District Collector P S Pradyumna and others also spoke.

Later, the Minister visited various wards in the GGH and enquired with the patients about the services being provided by doctors and paramedical staff. DCH Dr Saralamma, Joint Collector-II Chandramouli, TDP district president P Nani and others were present.
