Vijayawada: The members of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) demanded that the NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) authorities implement GO 550 in NEET UG counselling to benefit the BC, SC and ST students.

In this connection, a roundtable was organised at Dasari Bhavan here on Friday. AIYF student union leaders along with other student organisation JAC participated in the roundtable and said that they would lay siege to NTRUHS on August 21, demanding that the authorities implement GO 550.

They discussed about the recently issued High Court order to NTRUHS to continue with the second phase counselling process without taking the GO 550 into consideration.

The leaders said that the Government had filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court on the orders of the High Court and said that the reservation candidates filed another special leave petition on the same and the Unreserved Candidates filed Caveat in the Supreme Court.

The student leaders blamed Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for not taking any action to fulfil the demands of BC, SC and ST candidates in this regard.

They said that a total number of 464 NEET UG seats were still vacant, out of which 235 were non-joining seats, 79 were Special Category Seats and 150 national pool vacancies to be filled by August 31.

The student leaders came to a conclusion to stage a protest at NTRUHS demanding that the government issue another GO before the second phase counselling process begins.

AIYF city secretary Charan Sai, SFI city secretary Sumanth, YSRSF district president D Anji Reddy, PDSU city secretary Rajesh, Helping Hands leader Sivarama Krishna, Jana Sena city leader Harish and others were present.
