Mangalagiri AIIMS to be named after Atal ji

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Government has requested the Central Government to name the Mangalagiri AIIMS after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In fact, Chandrababu Government had contemplated this three years ago, but did not take a final decision. Now, it is learnt that Chandrababu has decided to name the university after Vajpayee.

Chandrababu had enjoyed a very cordial relation with Vajpayee and the BJP and TDP had friendly relations even during the NTR period. It is only now that Chandrababu had walked out of the alliance on the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh. The Government feels naming the AIIMS after Atal ji would be a fitting tribute to the memory of the great leader.
