Free medical camp at Govt College for Women
Visakhapatnam: Health Club of Visakha Government Degree and Junior Colleges for Women and city-based Kala Hospital jointly organised a massive health camp on the college premises on Saturday.
Over 20 expert doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians of the Kala Hospital were present in the camp and conducted tests on 2,500 students and hundreds of others, including parents and locals, in the vicinity of the college.
While inaugurating the camp, Managing Director of Kala Hospital Dr Pydi Venkata Ramana Murthy said that all the teenagers must go for medical check-up very particularly girls. He stressed importance and need of the healthy food habits and nutritious contents in the food in the teenage.
On the occasion, Chairman of the Hospital Dr P Kalavathi explained personal hygiene and general awareness on the changes in the body in the teenage.
The girls must have knowledge about the gynaecology issues and they should be careful about the hemoglobin levels in the body, she added.
The hospital staff conducted various medical tests, including BP, diabetes, thyroid, lipid profile, ECG and blood tests, to identify the dengue and other viral fevers.
Convener of the College Health Club Dr Ch Santhi Devi, Dr R Haritha, Dr R Manjula, Dr PV Ramana Reddy, Dr B Madhuri, Dr Sirisha, Dr Girish and Dr Mercy explained about various health issues at the camp.
The hospital also distributed medicines free of cost. Parents of the students and locals of Dabagardens, Ramnagar, Allipuram and Old Jail Road also utilised the medical services in the camp.
