Multi-talented Vengamamba remembered
Tirupati: Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba was not only a spiritual person but also renowned scholar, philanthropist and a multi-talented personality, opined the scholars.
On the occasion of 201st death anniversary of the saint poetess, a seminar was organised on Saturday at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati.
Dr KJ Krishnamurthi, Vengamamba Project Co-ordinator said she pioneered women empowerment almost three centuries ago with her multi-faceted talents.
Speaking on the topic of ‘Vengamamba-Sri Bhagavatham,’ he said Vengamamba though followed the style of Bammera Pothana in her Bhagavatham had independent approach in narration more so her illustration of Lord Krishna most appealing and devotional.
Besides, she contributed through her works including Sri Venkatachala Mahatyam, poems of Yakshaganalu and Sathaks to spread devotion.
Telugu scholars Muktevi Bharati from Hyderabad spoke on Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba-Yakshaganalu, Kattamanchi Mahalakshmi on Tarigonda Vengamamba- Sri Venkateswara Kirshna Manjari, Sangitham
Kesavulu from Chandragiri on Vengamamba Sahithi Prasthanam, throwing more light on Vengamamba as an erudite Telugu scholar.
Dr A Vibhishana Sharma delivered lecture on many topics related to Vengamamba life.
