People looking toward Congress: Meyyappan

Kadapa: All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Meyyappan has said that Congress is the only party that can protect the integrity of the nation by providing stable government. The AICC leader who was in Kadapa for participating as chief guest at party political training classes and Assembly level Coordination Committee Meeting (ALCCM), spoke to media persons here on Saturday.

He said people of the country are now looking towards Congress as both Central and state governments have utterly failed in addressing the people’s problems during the last four years. Atrocities against SC, ST women have become common in the country and the communities have been feeling insecure, he observed.  Finding fault with BJP lead NDA government at the Centre, the Congress leader said that BJP has deceived the people of Andhra Pradesh by rejecting the Special Category Status (SCS) which was assured in the AP Reorganisation Act. 

He asserted that Congress party will definitely provide SCS to AP, and also steel plant for Kadapa district and Visakha Railway Zone immediately  after it comes to power in 2019 General elections. Meyyappan said TDP failed in securing  rights, as well as funds from the Centre though it had been part of Central government for three and half years as it had always concentrated on its political advantages instead of thinking on people’s welfare.

Without naming YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the AICC leader said YSR Congress party totally failed as an opposition party as it has been on the roads for several months in the name of padayatra instead highlighting the people’s problems in the Assembly. He said that it is high time for party functionaries to strive to bring Congress party  to power in the ensuing elections by taking party ideals at grass root level. Former minister Sailajanath, DCC president SK Nazir Ahmad and others were present.
