People to be sensitised on kidney ailments

Srikakulam: The district medical and health department has decided to a conduct comprehensive awareness programme among public on chronic kidney disease (CKD) in all the seven mandals in Uddanam area in the district. 

As part of preventive measures, this activity was launched by the medical department officials. Chronic kidney disease was rampant in Itchapuram, Kaviti, Sompeta, Kanchili, Mandasa, Palasa and Vajrapukotturu mandals in Uddanam area. 

“As part of searching permanent solution and to know actual reason for the disease this activity was launched,” district medical and health officer (DM & HO) Dr Sanapala Tirupathi Rao told The Hans India. 

The special officers from the medical department- Dr Menda Praveen,  Dr N Kamesh Prasad, Dr Leela, Dr S Krishna Kumar, Dr M Krishna Murthy and Dr Bagaadi Jagannadham- were appointed in Uddanam area. 

DMHO Dr Sanapala Tirupathi Rao launched steps for the appointment of committees at the village and mandal levels.  In the villages, Aasha workers, Anganwadis, panchayat secretaries, Sadhikara Mitra, VROs, VAOs, local government school teachers and registered medical practitioners (RMPs) will be members. 

At the mandal-level, local medical officer, tahsildar, MPDO, rural water supply engineer, ICDS officials, staff, MEO, special officers, members of Mandal Mahila Samakhya would be in the committee to create awareness among people on chronic kidney disease. 

At district-level, the District Collector will be the Chairman, DM&HO, district coordinator for health services (DCHS), RIMS hospital director,  superintendent, nephrologist at RIMS, hospital development committee (HDC) body and district officers of departments concerned like district panchayat officer, DEO, DRDA PD, SE of rural water supply, ICDS PD and Rajiv Vidya Mission PO are the members.

“We will conduct the district-level first meeting of CKD on August 21 to discuss activities in the presence of District Collector and later, the mandal and village level committees would be formed,” according to DM & HO.
