Vignan Institute holds workshop on e-Learning

Visakhapatnam: Vignan’s Institute of Information Technology (Autonomous), Duvvada, organised a national-level workshop on e-Learning and MOOCs in higher education in association with Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, on Saturday.

Dr AK Bhakshi, Vice-Chancellor, PDM University, Haryana and Dr Vimal Rarh, Joint Director and Project Head, Guru Angad Dev, Teaching Learning Centre of MHRD, participated as resource persons in the workshop. 

They explained about MOOCs, e-Content Management and ICT to the participants. They also highlighted that as part of Digital India Initiative of the Central government, e-Content for many courses is available through e-PG Pathashala, SWAYAM programmes.

Students, who cannot afford for higher education, can pursue online courses (MOOCs) through the programmes and they can gain skills to get employment, they explained. 

Dr L Rathaiah, Chairman, Vignan Group, K Pavan Krishna, CEO, Vignan Vizag, Dr V Madhusudhana Rao, Rector and Dr Ch Narasimham, Principal, Prof A Sesha Rao, Principal, VIEW, participated in the inaugural session.

While addressing the participants, Rathaiah said that all the faculty should improve their skills through ICT and e-Learning so that students would be benefited. He also said that the 21st century teacher should be able to take up digital technology challenge so as to face new generation students.

About 200 faculty participated in FDP and gained experience in the workshop. Certificates were distributed to the participants in the valedictory programme.
