Later, some rocks fell on two homes in the same area at about 7 am. But no one was hurt in the incidents. Municipal officials and Vijayawada West Constituency YSRCP In-charge Velampalli Srinivas visited the accident site on hillock and consoled the other family members and relatives.

He alleged that the VMC and the State government are neglecting the problems of the residents living on the hill areas. Boulders also crashed to ground on Indrakeeladri hillock on the national highway between Durga temple and Kummaripalem on Monday.

The landslides were caused due to heavy rains for the last three days in the hilly areas in the district.  Nearly, two lakh people were living on the hilly areas in the city.

People living in thatched and kutcha houses are prone to deaths and injuries in hilly areas during rainy season. A mother and child died on a hillock in Tailorpet about three years ago when rocks fell on a home.
