Liquid Steel Spills at Vizag Steel - No Casualties reported
Over 40 tons of liquid steel spilled following a technical snag at Steel Melt Shop-2 in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Monday. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The liquid hot metal, which is being melted at 1,200 centigrade, spilled due to a technical issue at the ladder being shifted the steel to the blast furnace. The liquid steel also spilled in the machinery, which causes to stop the production for about 2 hours. However, senior engineers rushed to the spot and started damage control measures.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official of the RINL said that it is common in the steel factories that the liquid steel sometimes spilled. He said that it will be a loss of Rs 2 crore and the steel which spilled on the ground would be sent to scrap and there is nothing loss to the machinery.
