10 more sought on litre of milk for ryots
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham demanded that the government pay an additional Rs 10 per each litre of milk to the farmers. Sangham general secretary P Peddi Reddy said that they would stage a massive protest on August 23 seeking immediate increase in milk price.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, he asked the government to pay the additional amount in the same way as the dairies are paying in other states.
Peddi Reddy said that the dairy should also bear the expenditure of insurance premium amount. The government should protect cooperative dairies, he said and added that the import of milk powder from abroad be banned.
The state government should give loans to cattle purchase, he said and added that the government also should appoint veterinary doctors and supply medicines free of cost. He requested the farmers to participate in large numbers in the proposed protest rally.
