Gudivada RDO cautions people on floods
Gudivada: RDO Guttula Venkata Satyavani cautioned people to be alert and move to safer places in view of MeT department warned of heavy rain in next two days due to formation of low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal.
She inspected the bridge on Budameru near Puttagunta in Nandivada mandal in the division on Monday along with Nandivada tahsildar Srinivas Naik and the divisional engineering officials of Drainage to assess the flood situation.
Satyavani said that control rooms have been set up at tahsildar offices at Gudivada, Pedaparupudi, Nandivada, Pamarru, Gudlavalleru, Mudinepalli, Mandavalli, Kaikaluru and Kalidindi mandals to inform the people about the flood threat if any.
She instructed the panchayat officials to undertake sanitation work regularly to keep the villages clean. She also directed the irrigation officials to inspect the drains regularly. If the bunds of drains or canals are weak, she asked the officials to strengthen them with sand bags.
The officials of the revenue, housing, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry and irrigation departments should be alert and inform the higher officials regarding the loss of lives, property, collapse of houses and submergence of paddy fields, she added.
She instructed the medical and health department officials to conduct medical camps in the villages. Grama Darsini: The RDO instructed the officials to organise regular Grama Darsini programmes on Thursday and Friday and attend them with full information on hand.
They should be holding information regarding ration, pension, toilets, sanitation, drinking water, cleanliness of Anganwadis and allotment of house sites to the beneficiaries while attending Grama Darsini meetings.
