Issuance of vehicle fitness certificates made online

Tirupati: In its bid to go for complete online, the Transport Department brought some more services under online from the last one week. Already, vehicle registrations, road tax payment, ownership transfer and other services were made online and the vehicle owners are happy over this initiative as it saves them lot of time.

Now, a new software was introduced to provide vehicles fitness renewal certificates, transfer of ownership, no objection certificates etc on online and people need not go to RTA offices for the purpose. The Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in Tirupati B Suresh Naidu, who was checking the vehicles in pilgrim city and issuing fitness renewal certificates on Tuesday told The Hans India that till now vehicle owners used to come to RTA office to get fitness certificates for their vehicles.

Now, the process was simplified which enables the vehicle owners to pay the fees online and book time slot to bring the vehicle for verification which saves their time significantly. The MVIs have been provided tabs to complete the process and they would check chassis number of the vehicle to find out whether it is genuine or not.

They will also check all electric equipment and their functioning including wipers, braking system, condition of tyres, reflection tapes etc., before issuing fitness certificate. All these are required for vehicle to avoid accidents, the MVI said.

Now, under online system the photos of every aspect of checking is being uploaded. After successful completion of inspection, the certificate of fitness would be uploaded to the department website which the vehicle owner can download and take a printout.
