CII dispatches relief material to Kerala

Vijayawada: In a bid to support thousands of people affected by the floods in Kerala, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh chapter dispatched relief materials contributed by its members to the flood affected people in Kerala on Wednesday. 

The CII has also set up a Task Force with members from industry to coordinate industry’s effort in rescue, relief and undertake rehabilitation interventions to support people in the affected areas. 

The Task Force is led by Kris Gopalakrishnan, former president, CII & Co-Founder, Infosys Limited.

Krishnan said in order to provide immediate relief measures, the CII had launched a major relief programme with the support of the industry members. 

The CII had set up collection centres across the State with access to 24x7 online helpline numbers to connect with people on ground in providing necessary relief materials. 

Several truck loads of relief materials consisting of dry rations, utility items, toiletries, packaged drinking water, cloth, bed sheets and packaged food products like, biscuits and milk powder etc had been dispatched from across the country to the collection centers set up by the district administration in the affected districts.

From CII Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada relief material such as rice, sugar, vermicelli, cookies, rusks, clothes, sanitary pads, medicines, utensils, ORS packets, bleaching powder, mosquito coils, slippers have been sent to Kochi for distribution among the flood affected victims. 

The CII had been in constant touch with the district officials and was working closely with the State Government to extend the necessary support in accessing the relief materials and reaching out to the people, said Gopalakrishnan.
