Joint Collector PS Girisha appreciates auto drivers’ initiative

Tirupati: District Joint Collector PS Girisha extended support to the initiative of auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers to collect relief material for Kerala flood victims here on Wednesday.

Auto workers at Sudarshan auto stand near railway station started collecting relief commodities to send it to Kerala. After meeting them, the Joint Collector gave a call to city residents to extend their support in different forms to Kerala flood victims in the hour of grief.

Floods have devastated Kerala and whatever contributions cannot wipe out their woes as the estimated loss has crossed Rs 20,000 crore, the JC stated. Residents have responded to District Collector PS Pradyumna’s call and contributed Rs 40 lakh worth of relief material in one day which was sent to that state.

About Rs 50 lakh have been credited to Collector’s account to help the victims. He appreciated the initiative of drivers at Sudarshan auto stand. TDP leader Dr Koduru Balasubramanyam, auto driver Khaja and others were present.
