Akiveedu: Though rains caused extensive loss to many, it was fishers who celebrate over the rain.

They have been getting huge catch through fishing nets at Upputeru, the stream which connects West Godavari to Krishna district.

Fishers cheer as huge water inflows enter Kolleru lake because of heavy rains upstream. A large number of fishers have been expressing happiness over profitable catch of fishes.

Many fishers camped at Upputeru and busy making wealth. The exporters also rushed to the area and set up weighing machines.

The small fishers have been selling fishes for throw away price of Rs 50-a-kg as against Rs 100 earlier.

Motorists and others travelling by highway have been halting to buy the fish. Hectic activity is witnessed at Upputeru because of easily available fish for the fishers.

There is huge demand for fish here as the live fishes are available.
On the other hand, the bridge on Upputeru has turned congested because of enthusiastic fishermen who have been catching fish from the bridge.

The traffic movement is slow on the bridge because of the fisher activity.

The fishers attribute this easy availability of fishes to Goddess Gangamma. While one suffers because of floods, others benefit because of the nature, they commented.
