Farmers told to adopt technology
Srikakulam: Farmers need to adopt latest technological advancements in cultivation of various crops for better yield, suggested Digital India Corporation Group coordinator BK Murthy. He interacted with farmers at Krishi Vignana Kendram (KVK) in Amudalavalasa on Friday. The Digital India Corporation is a part of Union Ministry of Science and Technology and it is providing technical assistance for agriculture development across the nation.
With the support of DIC, the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) launched Annapurna Krishi Prasara Seva (AKPS) with an aim to provide timely better suggestions to farmers five years ago. Farmers need to register their names and cell phone numbers with AKPS scientists and then they can get all advanced information on cultivation of crops.
Adoption of technical advancements in cultivation is equally important on par with farm mechanisation, the group coordinator said. AKPS project director P Punna Rao explained how it is useful to farmers for the past five years in cultivation of crops by receiving inputs from scientists.
Amudalavalasa KVK programme coordinator D Chinnam Naidu organised the programme. Agricultural scientists from all three north coastal districts Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam took part in the programme. Farmers across the district also attended and explained their experiences after adoption of AKPS suggestions.
