MoEF gives final nod for missile testing centre

Vijayawada: The Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change (MoEF) has given final permission for the missile testing centre at Gullalamoda near Machilipatnam. 

The Ministry cleared the decks by giving permission to set up the missile testing centre. The Experts Appraisal Committee (EAC) of Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change met in New Delhi on Friday and cleared the permission for the project. 

It may be noted that the Union Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change gave permission by liberalising the guidelines under stage-one. Now the Appraisal Committee has given the entire permission for environment clearance as final stage.

Further, the Forest and Environment did not raise any objections on the project. Hereafter the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is only responsible for grounding the work. The 154 hectares of forest land has been earmarked for this project.
