YSRCP mulls resignations en masse
Amaravati: The YSRCP is considering mass resignations by MLAs on the first day itself when the monsoon session of the AP Assembly begins on September 6 to prove their commitment for the Special Category Status.
YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy along with his MLAs boycotted the Assembly for the last one year. Now, they have decided to quit membership of the Assembly ostensibly for the Special Category Status but in reality, they want to steal a march over Chief Minister and TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu in campaigning for the Assembly elections next year.
This is one among many other options which are under discussion, but the final decision will be taken during the party meeting in the first week of next month, said party senior leader and Political Secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.
Ramakrishna Reddy said that despite their continuous protest for the last two years, Chandrababu Naidu did not even bother to mend his “indecent politics”.
He said that they opposed the defections engineered by Chandrababu Naidu and that they were demanding removal of the YSRCP members from the cabinet. “But Naidu has not considered our demand and instead was resorting to shameless politics,” he added.
Ramakrishna Reddy informed that they were determined to intensify pressure on Chandrababu Naidu at any cost. For the last four years, Chandrababu Naidu was ruling the state like a monarch and did not even allow Leader of Opposition Jagan Mohan Reddy to speak on public issues in the Assembly, he said. “If this is the case, how can anyone expect a decent debate on public issues in the Assembly,” he asked.
