Collective effort must to contain kidney ailments in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: Collective effort of is essential to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD) in seven mandals in Uddanam area in the district, said Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy. 

An awareness camp on CKD at Kaviti Primary Health Centre (PHC) was conducted here on Saturday. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that different organisations in the country and abroad are yet to find out the reason for the spread of kidney ailments in Uddanam area. 

The government is planning to establish a dialysis unit at Kaviti PHC and trying to engage services of noted nephrologists from outside the district, the Collector elaborated. 

At present by spending Rs 16 crore, water is being supplied to residents of Uddanam through seven water plants and for permanent solution, the government has decided to allocate Rs 490 crore for supply of safe drinking water for all in Uddanam, the Collector added. 

Itchapuram TDP MLA B Ashok, district medical and health officer Dr Sanapala Tirupati Rao,  medical officers Dr Menda Praveen, Dr Bagadi Jagannadham and district officials were present.
