Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh BJP claimed that the people in coastal and Rayalaseema regions wanted a change in Andhra Pradesh as current TDP government has been resorting to indiscriminate privatisation of the natural resources and indulging in widespread corruption.

Addressing the media here on Monday, party national executive member D Purandeswari and State general secretary S Suresh Reddy said that the ruling TDP had questioned if anyone would join in BJP.

But, due to the development and welfare schemes being implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many prominent leaders are now coming into the BJP fold, they pointed out.

Welcoming the former YSRCP leader Kotla Chakrapani Reddy who joined the BJP in the presence of the AP BJP leaders, Purandeswari asked those joining in the party to create awareness among the people on the assistance being extended by the BJP led NDA government at the Centre to Andhra Pradesh.

She reminded how the Central Cabinet had taken a decision to merge seven mandals from Telangana with AP to ensure there were no hurdles to the Polavaram Project. Besides, every work and project in the State has been taken up with the financial assistance from the Centre.

"The country's image has been growing around the world after Modi's government has come to power. But, the Opposition parties having no ideological similarities with each other have been trying to come together and asking the people to defeat the BJP," she pointed out.

Suresh Reddy pointed out that the Centre provided Constitutional status to the BC Commission. The Centree had brought a stronger legislation to protect the interests of the SC and STs, he said.

Chakrapani Reddy said that he joined the BJP after seeing the transparent and efficient governance of Narendra Modi and the political leadership of BJP national president Amit Shah.
