Village tourism: Govt plans skill development training to 100 youth
Amaravati: The State government will give skill development training to 100 unemployed youth to promote village tourism, informed Tourism Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena on Monday in a press release.
The Tourism Secretary held a review meeting with the officials at Secretariat here on Monday on the progress of ongoing tourism projects and said that there was need to establish a skill development centre. Meena explained that this will enhance the income levels of the unemployed rural youth.
The tourism department has taken this decision in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who had recently directed the department to encourage rural tourism and village tourism.
In addition to that, the Tourism department is also planning to bring farmers to Amaravati capital city and show them the developments taken place. Government will also provide training to the village vendors on how to behave with tourists while selling their village products.
In addition, M K Meena instructed the officials to prepare a detailed project report on encouraging cruise tourism on inland water bodies, reservoirs, lakes and other major tanks in the state. The officials presented the proposals of various companies on Krishna and Godavari rivers cruise.
Himanshu Shukla, Director, AP Tourism and Mukesh Kumar Meena directed the officials to find the best way to implement these projects and also suggested to purchase the cruise vehicles if possible. Officials were also directed to develop eco-tourism in coordination of Forest and Environment department.
