YSRCP seeks justice for victim of sexual harassment

Visakhapatnam: The YSRCP leaders on Monday submitted a memorandum to collector K Pravin Kumar against a private junior college correspondent Kumar Murthy during the grievance session conducted here on Monday at the Collectorate demanding justice to a girl victim.

According to sources, the girl studying intermediate at Visakha Vocational Junior College in the city had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Kumar Murthy, a 45-year-old, who was working as college correspondent on August 21.

The girl on Saturday approached YSRCP supremo Jaganmohan Reddy during his Jana Sankalpa Yatra at Yelamanchili constituency seeking justice for her. 

Speaking to media, YSRCP MP V Vijaya Sai Reddy said that in recent times, the sexual harassment and assault against women were on the rise in the state.

The teacher who needs to treat students as their children has committed sexual harassment on students and this kind of incidents degrade the position of teachers in the society, he said. The YSRCP leaders demanded justice to be done for the victim by taking stringent action against the correspondent.

Later Vijaya Sai Reddy along with former MLA Malla Vijaya Prasad and followers met the Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha and appealed him to take against the correspondent and provide justice to the victim.
