Attacks on SCs increased in TDP rule: Harsha Kumar

Update: 2018-08-29 05:30 IST

Rajamahendravaram: Former MP GV Harsha Kumar has alleged that attacks on SCs were increased during the four-year tenure of Telugu Desam Party government in the state.  Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is treating SCs as vote bank and not taking any action against the accused relating to attacks of SCs, he said.

Harshakumar was speaking media persons here on Tuesday. He said the police and officials are working for the government and not for the people. In each case they are trying to protect the accused, instead of initiating action against them.

They are also mounting pressure on the victims to withdraw cases, he alleged. The former MP stated that Jana Sena Party, YSR Congress Party and Congress parties are also not responding on the attacks of SCs and they are not even condemning the attacks.

The police are trying to protect the accused who have severely beaten an SC youth in Katravulapalli village of East Godavari district on a petty issue on August 26thand the police and some officials mounted pressure on the doctors of Government General Hospital, Kakinada to discharge the injured to avoid registering a case, Harshakumar charged.

Two SC persons were murdered on June 14th at Peravali of West Godavari district. A body of SC person was found on the rail track in Rajamahendravaram recently and in the primary inquiry, it was reported that it is a murder, he said.

He demanded the government to arrest the accused relating to Katravulapalli, Rajamahendravaram and Peravali incidents and also to start investigation relating to Peravali incident where two SCs were murdered. Why the police are not registering cases against the accused relating to attacks and murders of SCs, is a million-dollar question, he complained.

He warned the government that he will go for indefinite hunger strike if the government fails to arrest the accused in the three cases.
