Speaking on the occasion, CPM State secretary P Madhu regretted that though several leaders from Rayalaseema had earlier occupied high positions both in Central and State governments, no expected development took place in the region.

He said drought conditions became common phenomenon in the area for several decades due to non- completion of irrigation projects. He pointed out that BJP-led NDA government totally failed in implementing the assurances mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act. He alleged that both BJP and TDP were adopting double standards over construction of steel plant in Kadapa district.

CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna said that due to severe drought conditions in Seema, thousands of people were forced to go on migration to the neighbouring States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka for livelihood.

He criticised successive governments for their failure to take permanent measures for mitigating drought in Rayalaseema. CPM State committee member M Prabhakara Reddy, party state leaders B Narayana, CPM district secretary Anjayaneyulu, CPI state leaders Obulesu, Eswaraiah and others were present.
