No nod for private practice for govt docs, ssays AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad chief

Chittoor: No government doctor in the state is allowed to run private hospitals of his own as against the  service rules and those who violate the rules would have to face punishment, said AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (APVVP) commissioner Dr K Durga Prasad. So far the vigilance department registered more than 100 cases against the government doctors for running private practice, he added.

Addressing a press conference  at the Chittoor Government Hospital here on Wednesday, Dr Durga Prasad reiterated that the government was  very  firm in  maintaining the government hospitals at par to corporate hospitals in the state at all levels .

He said there was a proposal to allot MRI apparatus worth Rs 5 crore each to the government hospitals situated at Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Eluru , Machilipatnam, Tenali, Nandyal and Proddutur  while  Apollo Group of Hospitals  would install MRI equipment shortly in Chittoor Government Hospital

“On experimental basis, Chittoor Government Hospital was attached  to Apollo Group of Hospitals for 33 years period under PPP (Public-Public Partnership) concept. 

As per the agreement, the Apollo should ensure the super specialty services  to the patients  in Chittoor Government Hospital in all respects . The group is responsible for maintenance of sanitation and recruitment of the doctors,” said the APVVVP commissioner. 

He clarified that there was no question of shifting Chittoor Government Hospital to Madanapalli or elsewhere in near future. Dr Durga Prasad said that the doctors of Apollo  and APVVP  should work with team spirit without any ego problems in Chittoor Government Hospital to provide best services to the patients. 

He said that NTR Vaidya sevas would be extended to all the community health centres of APVVP in the state with immediate effect. Filling the doctor posts in the APVVP hospitals would be taken shortly after completing the promotion exercise of the working doctors, he said while admitting that highly qualified doctors were least interested to opt for government services. 

The commissioner earlier visited various wards in Chittoor Government Hospital and expressed his satisfaction over the functioning of the medical officers and the nursing staff. Apollo Hospital  superintendent Dr Narendra Reddy, DCH Dr.Saralamma,  Chittoor Government Hospital superintendent Dr.Pandu Rangaiah, senior medical officers Dr Paul Ravi Kumar, Br Rajendra Prasad, Dr Sandhya, Dr Hari Prasad and others were present.
