Harikatha exponent Adibhatla remembered
Visakhapatnam: Regional Joint Director of Public Relations M Balagangadhar Tilak said that Harikatha is an art to depict our culture, which should be protected. The Department of Culture and Sri Adibhatla Sri Kala Peetam are jointly organising Harikatha Mahotsavalu on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Harikatha Pithamaha Ajjada Adibhatla Narayana Dasu.
Inaugurating the celebrations at Sri Karakachettu Polamamba Ammavari temple on Wednesday, Tilak said that Narayana Dasu was a great writer, composer, musician, and litterateur. He appreciated film and TV actress Padala Kalyani, who established Sri Adibhatla Sri Kala Peetam and organising Harikatha Mahotsavalu for the past 10 years.
He said that not only Harikatha there are several Telugu arts, including ‘Jamukula Katha,’ and ‘Oggu Katha’ should also be propagated as they are almost vanishing. Speaking on the occasion, Padala Aruna said that their peetam is promoting Harikatha artistes and also encouraging newcomers into the field.
