Andhra University to get 100 cr under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan

Visakhapatnam: Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Prof G Nageswara Rao said that the university would get Rs 100 crore under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) in the second phase of releasing funds. The amount would be spent for infrastructure development and starting of new courses of international standards, the Vice- Chancellor added. 

Speaking at the ISO External Auditors meeting here on Thursday, Nageswara Rao said that already Rs 20 crore received under RUSA in the first phase and said that the university has constructed hostels exclusively for women and developing infrastructure for various colleges.

He said that a spacious five-floor ‘Research and Development Centre’ building would be constructed in the second phase. The Centre would be equipped with the state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, he added.

Prof Nageswara Rao said that Andhra University has got autonomous status and the university would make use of this autonomous status to full extent. Under NIRF, the university got 22nd rank among 1,046 institutions in the country.
