Akiveedu: The town committee of CPM has decided to organise a two-day Padayatra on August 31 and September 1, in protest against government apathy to solve long pending local problems.

The party leaders convened the town committee meeting here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the party district committee member, B Satyanarayana said that problems of Akiveedu town remain unresolved for several years.

Distribution of house sites in 74 acres in Tallakodu, drinking water supply, drainage system, traffic problem, drainages and compost yards in residential areas were some of the problems ignored by the government, he revealed.

Stating that the CPM had struggled for these problems earlier also, the party leader lamented that the administration partially addressed the problems.

The problems need to be resolved completely to bring comfort to the people. In order to motivate people and to fight against administration on local problems, the party had decided to go to the people.

The Padayatra would try to gather public support to solve local problems, he added.

The CPM mandal and town secretaries, B Anjaneyulu and G Appa Rao informed that the party functionaries would hold a dharna at Tahsildar office on September 3.
