SC panel member receives petitions

Anantapur: National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) member K Ramulu interacted with officials and members of various SC organisations and associations at the local ZP meeting hall here on Thursday. District Collector Veera Pandian and SP GVG Ashok Kumar called on the commission member and discussed the redressal mechanism of multiple complaints that pour in various departments. 

The member received petitions and memorandums from several SC forums. Addressing participants on the occasion, Ramulu said that the job of the commission is to review the implementation of various SC Acts particularly the Atrocities Act. 

He said that he had been visiting all the districts in the country and thoroughly reviewing the implementation of various laws. He said that every year the commission is supposed to submit a report to the President of India on the status of the SCs and the problems in the implementation of various laws. 

The Commission received as many as 170 petitions from the public. Of them, 74 petitions related to the Revenue department, 12 of Police department and 80 petitions are general in nature. ZP Chief Executive Officer Shobha Swaroopa was also present.
