Fun Zone gutted in Rambha theatre complex
Rajamahendravaram: A major fire mishap was averted in Fun Zone centre located in Rambha Theatre complex here on Friday. Though there was no loss of lives, property worth Rs 10-Rs 15 lakh was destroyed.
The mishap occurred when there were no visitors as the facility is operated in the evenings for the entertainment of children. According to I Town CI M Ravindra three employees of the theatre observed smell of burning and later noticed smoke some parts of Fun Zone at about 2.30 pm. Soon flames were seen in Scary House, Infinite Room, 12D Theatre and others sections of the zone destroying them completely.
The fire department personnel managed to control the flames after entering the rooms after breaking glasses. Fire tenders from Arypuram and Innispeta rushed to the spot and the fire personnel put out the fire under the guidance of fire officer Srinivasa Rao.
Rambha Theatre management had given the building for lease to Abraham, Hanmantha Rao and Hemalatha of Hyderabad two months ago. Fun Zone management is running the centre on trial basis in evening times.
The police are verifying whether Fun Zone has necessary licences and a case will be registered against concerned persons, according to the CI. Audience for the matinee show in the Rambha Theatre rushed out of the theatre in panic after the smoke from the Fun Zone entered the theatre too. Rambha Theatre complex belongs to former MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao.
