Foundation laid for Swatantranagar park by Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Commissioner M Hari Narayanan

Visakhapatnam: Residents of outskirts areas are demanding that the GVMC and VUDA establish parks, sports complexes and other entertainment spots in their areas in Bheemili, Madhurawada, Gajuwaka, Pendurty and Anakapalle areas. 

During the past four years, the GVMC and VUDA also looking at the demand and developing parks and sports facilities on the outskirts.

As a part of the programme, Bheemili MLA and Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao assured to establish a major park with all the facilities at Madhurawada. 

As per the minister’s assurance, the GMVC proposed to establish a major park at Swatantranagar near Madhurawada.

While laying the foundation stone for the park on Saturday, Minister for HRD Ganta Srinviasa Rao said that the park would be established in 3.55 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 3.78 crore. 

The park would be a major attraction in the surrounding areas. The minister directed the officials to complete the park by next December.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan said that the GVMC is inviting Residents Welfare Association to establish small, medium and big parks at their localities. 

However, the associations should invest 1/33 part of the proposed cost of the park and the rest would be sanctioned by the GVMC, he added.  

Talking about the Swatantranagar Park, the Commissioner said that the park would be constructed with all the facilities, including open air theatre, water body, yoga court, children play area, volleyball and shuttle courts and walking tracks.
