Revoke Compensatory Pension Scheme immediately: MLC Y Srinivasulu Reddy

  • 1.20 lakh teachers from across the state went on mass leave demanding to resolve the issue

Chittoor: MLC Y Srinivasulu Reddy said the government has introduced Compensatory Pension Scheme (CPS) violating the provisions of constitution.

Protesting against the government’s CPS policy, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers Organisation (FAPTO) has organised a mass dharna at District Collector’s office here on Saturday where all the teachers’ bodies and unions have taken part. 

Participating as a chief guest in the event, the MLC demanded the government to scrap the CPS with immediate effect unconditionally.

Recalling the failures of TDP government in the last four years, he slammed the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for playing with the lives of employees.

He made it clear that the teachers would intensify the agitation to exert pressure on the government for conceding their lone demand. 

STU district leader Ghanta Mohan blamed the leaders of parties for neglecting the interest of teachers in respect of the pension provision.

He said the teachers would intensify the agitation democratically to exert pressure on the government for suspending the CPS. 

Teacher union leaders H Ranamma, Kamalama and Dhanaraj were present. 

Over 8,000 teachers across the district have applied one-day leave to participate in the dharna agitation programme. 

They raised slogans against the government demanding the immediate suspension of the CPS. DSP Subba Rao made elaborate arrangements  to prevent any untoward incidents during the programme.  

Abolish CPS

Nellore: Demanding to resolve the issue of contributory pension scheme (CPS), Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers Organizations (FAPTO) staged a protest in front of the Collector’s office here on Saturday. 

They shouted slogans against the state government. MLC V Balasubrahmanyam, who attended the programme, extended his support to the teachers’ organisations. 

Speaking to media, Balasubrahmanyam said the main demand of the teachers’ bodies was to abolish the Contributory Pension Scheme.

Due to this, the employees would face severe problems and said that gratuity, family pension, and related schemes are basic rights of the government employees. 

He also demanded to restore the old pension scheme for the benefit of teachers and employees.

He said a public meeting with all teachers’ organisations in Vijayawada was also held demanding to abolish the CPS and to continue the old pension scheme. 

According to reports, around 1.20 lakh teachers across the state went on mass leave demanding to resolve the issue.
