State bags 10 awards in MNREGS implementation
Vijayawada: The AP State government is in a jubilant mood after the Union Ministry of Rural Development announced on Saturday that the state bagged ten awards in nine categories for the effective implementation of MNREGS, followed by West Bengal government with seven awards. Minister for Panchayat Raj and IT Nara Lokesh congratulated the MNREGA staff for achieving the maximum number of awards at national-level.
The state bagged the first place in transparency and accountability in the state-level category while it also secured second place in convergence and livelihood. At the district-level Visakhapatnam and Prakasam districts secured first and second places for effective implementation of MNREGA among the 18 districts throughout the country. In yet another state-level award, the AP secured fourth place in the implementation of good governance initiative. It also secured third place in the implementation of barefoot technicians’ project.
In the category of effective initiative by Gram DakSevak in MNREGA administration, Andhra Pradesh secured first place. Likewise, KotabayluGram Panchayat in Chittoor district secured the first place in the category of Best Performing Gram Panchayat in implementation of MNREGS. The Union Ministry for Rural Development instructed the state government to send its representative to receive the awards at a function to be heldat Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on September 11.
