19 villages in Padmanabham mandal to get drinking water
Visakhapatnam: The long-awaited dream of potable drinking water at their doorstep become a reality for 19 villages of Padmanabham mandal in the district on Sunday.
The district administration has completed the drinking water scheme with the help of World Bank’s financial aid which facilitates drinking water supply in the 19 villages.
Inaugurating the water scheme, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the government was committed to provide drinking water, toilets, education and medical facilities to every village. The government for the past four years has been implementing as many as 68 welfare schemes to ensure every common to lead the life comfortably, he added.
Briefing the new schemes being implemented in the state, the minister said that recently the government had launched a new scheme providing Rs 1,000 as pension to lonely woman. On the occasion, the minister distributed Rs 1,000 pension to 75 lonely women in Padmanabham mandal.
The minister also presented cheques to beneficiaries of Chandranna Bima Scheme to Palla Somaraju and Sambamgi Lakshmi families. Earlier, the minister inspected the ghat road works being constructed from downhills to temple at a cost of Rs 5.69 crore.
