Colourful events mark Krishna Janmashtami in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Devas Trust organised colourful event of ‘Sri Krishna Janmastami’ at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College here on Sunday morning. 

Fancy dress competitions were conducted for children in the roles of Sri Krishna, Gopika and Yasoda. Similarly competitions were also held for group dances depicting Sri Krishna.

A total number of 23 children participated in the fancy dress and nine teams for group dance competitions. Among the 23 children Vatsalya Lakshmi, DS Jahnavi and Sathvika Poornima got first, second and third prizes in fancy dress competitions. 

Five consolation prizes were also given to the children by name A Dhanasri, S Poornima, K Deepika, H Dishit and D Jathin.

Dr Regina and HVRS Prasad were in the jury penal. Santosh excellently choreographed the “Kaaleeyamardhanam” and received first prize for group dance event. 

Similarly, the groups of Lekhya Bharani and Ushamadhavi were adjudged as second and third best by the judges.

Kumara Suryanarayana and Ch Srinivas were the judges for group dance competitions. 

Later, two groups Vijayawada groups excellently performed “Kotatam”.

Emmadi Settee Ramkumar, Chennapragada Sadasiva and P Venkataswamy Naidu participated and blessed the children. 

Devabhaktuni Shyam, chairman, Devas Trust welcomed the gathering. Vani and Padmasree conducted the competitions.
