Narendra Modi played key role in Rafale deal: Moily

Vijayawada: Former chief minister of Karnataka Veerappa Moily alleged on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi played a key role in the Rafale aircraft purchasing deal to benefit the Reliance group of companies. Speaking to media at the State Congress office here on Tuesday along with MP K V P Ramachandra Rao, VeerappaMoulysaid Reliance industries has no experience in the Defence sector. 

He said that the Union government is weakening the national Defence by involving the inexperienced Reliance group in big deals. Questioning as to why Prime Minister Modi is silent on the Rafale deal,Moily recalled that AICC president Rahul Gandhi has already demanded the Prime Minister to respond on the deal.  

The senior Congress leader said the Congress party leaders would submit representations to the district collectors on Rafale deal onSeptember 12 and a memorandum would be submitted to the President of India through the State governor E S L Narasimhan on September 24.

Asked about the Congress party alliance with the TDP in the ensuing elections, Moily said the Congress party would go alone in the elections and will not have alliance with any other political party.
