Actors Geetanjali, Uttej to get Dr ANR Award

Vijayawada: To mark the 95th birth anniversary of Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Yuva Kalavahini would organise a three-day Dr Akineni Nageswara Rao Nataka Kala Parishad 24th state-level drama competition for people of Telugu speaking states of AP and TS.

The cultural programme would be held from September 10 to 12 at Gantasala Venkateswara Rao Music College. The programme will be headed by artiste Sarepalli Kondal Rao.

The Yuva Kalavahini president, Y K Nageswara Rao said that on September 10, former Tamil Nadu Governor K Roshaiah would be the chief guest and well-known actress Geetanjali would be awarded Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao Lifetime Achievement Award.

Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao would be special guest. MLA GV Anjenuyulu, RTC chairman Varla Ramaiah, M Subba Rao, Dr Turlapati Kutumba Rao, M Lakshmi Kumari would be the guest of honour on the inaugural day.

On September 11, Gadde Anuradha, ZP chairperson, Nutalapati Sambaiah, cine analyst SV Rama Rao, Narashetty Ravi Kumar would participate in the programme. ‘Kukka Pilla’ and ‘Batuku Chitram’ plays would be performed on the second day.

On the concluding day, Gurthuteliyane Shavam, Bhumi Dhukam plays would be performed.

Later, prize distribution would be held.

Cine actor Uttej would be awarded with Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao Lifetime Achievement Award.

About 15,000 participants would participate in the three-day programme, said the organising committee president Nageswara Rao.
